Speaking on the panel titled "A Formula for Success: Transforming Chemical Logistics to Proactively Anticipate and Navigate 2024 and Beyond”, BAYEGAN COO Atilla Eryılmaz shared insights on trends that will shape the future of the Turkish petrochemical industry and said: “Türkiye will become an important player in the global petrochemical industry in the coming period due to its geographical location, its strong infrastructure, qualified workforce and increasing investments in petrochemical production and infrastructure.”
During his remarks, Atilla shared our perspective on the logistics needs of the sector and stated: “With the growth of the petrochemical market, we expect domestic production to increase and Türkiye’s import dependency for petrochemicals to decrease. This expected increase in domestic production capacity and growing export volume will result in a change in logistics needs. Achieving operational efficiencies will be key; hence, innovation and improvements in logistics processes especially in packaging, delivery, transportation and storage will be critical."
Underscoring that Türkiye offers competitive advantages to many sectors and regions thanks to its strong port network with direct connections to international ports, Atilla listed the priorities for the transformation in the supply chain as follows: further strengthening the infrastructure, increasing the capacity of the ports and connecting them to main roads, optimizing port area entrance and exits and reducing warehouse costs.
